COMMITTEES

Activity Committees

DIABETES COMMITTEE
Promotes diabetes awareness through support of charitable organizations that provide direct services to persons with diabetes, promotes and participates in fund raising activities with charities that support diabetes research, allocates committee funds to charities that conduct diabetes research.

SIGHT/HEARING
Arranges for eye/hearing examinations as well as prescription eyeglasses and hearing instruments to individuals in need, allocates committee funds for Lions-endorsed and other charitable organizations that provide hearing/sight services and/or hearing/sight related research.

YES (YOUTH, ENVIRONMENT, PUBLIC SERVICE)
Manages club service projects, including projects for persons in need, organizes activities for youth, provides financial support to individuals and groups who are pursuing worthy goals, allocates committee fund for charitable organizations that provide services, programs and activities for youth.


Administrative Committees

APPLE HARVEST
Responsible for the procurement, organization and apple sale to the general public.  Also organizes and stages caramel apple sales at Chester Bowl Fall Fest in the Fall.

PANCAKE DAY
Responsible for the Duluth Lion’s major fund-raising project from the public.  Includes procurement, inventory control, equipment maintenance and detailed recordkeeping.  

PROGRAM

Responsible for identifying program speakers for one month of regular club meetings and for communicating the programs to the bulletin editor and person responsible for the weekly calendar of events.

LEADERSHIP
Responsible for the identification, development and training of leadership within the club. Conducts member survey and retreats as needed.

MEMBERSHIP
Responsible for membership growth through recruitment of new members and retention of current members.  Determines and organizes new member recruitment activities, conducts orientation form new members. 

PUBLIC RELATIONS
Responsible for promoting awareness of the Duluth Lions and what we do, both externally and internally.  Oversees the publications of the club newsletter, production of the zone roster, and weekly Calendar of Events.

CONVENTION
Responsible for promotion and internal fund-raising in support of member attendance at district, multiple district and international conventions.

SOCIAL/SPECIAL EVENTS
Responsible for organizing social events for club members and their families, as well as official functions such as installation/induction meetings and events which include international visitors.

NOMINATING
Responsible for developing a slate of officers, directors and board members for the clubs annual election. Members are appointed by the club president.

CONSTITUTION AND BY LAWS
Responsible for the maintenance and appropriate development of the club’s constitution, bylaws and policy manual, including the amendment and approval processes.  Manages the annual club election process.  Serves as a resource to the club president and executive committee on issues related to Lions’ constitutions, bylaws, policies and parliamentary procedures.

FINANCE
Responsible for helping establish the annual activity and administrative budgets for approval by the board of directors.  Ensures that appropriate financial procedures and safeguards are followed at club meetings and events.  Provides staffing for receipt of cash at club meetings for meals and dues and event ticket sales.

VISITATION
Sends cards, plants, memorial gifts to Lions.

ARCHIVES
Photographs events as well as coordinating the roster.
